Performance Poetry 

This week we have been learning all about nonsense poetry. We looked at the key features of poems and how to read them with expression. We learnt the the nonsense poem 'On the Ning Nang Nong' by Spike Milligan. Watch the video of us performing below! 

RE this half term

In RE we have been learning about Jesus and have discussed how he can help Christians to be kind through his teachings. We worked together to write an acrostic poem about kindness.

If you are unkind people won't want to play with you

Diwali Workshop

This week we were very lucky to have a specialist Diwali workshop in school. We all had the opportunity to decorate our very own Diva Lamps with traditional patterns and colours. We really enjoyed painting the Diva lamps, you can see some photographs below. 

Science 

We have been learning all about deciduous and evergreen trees in Science this week. We went on a walk down to Dungworth Park to observe all of the different trees we could find. We discussed what type of trees we could see and whether we thought they were deciduous or evergreen. We also collected different leaves to look at their similarities and differences.  

Design Technology - Moving Vehicles  

Our class text, The Naughty Bus was the inspiration for our moving vehicles project this half term. We decided to design and make our very own bus. We really enjoyed using the saws to make our axle. Have a look through the photographs of us making our vehicles. 

Music lessons Autumn 2

For the first three weeks of this half-term we have been listening to Reggae music and identifying some of the elements of music in a variety of Reggae style songs. We have also been learning to sing the song 'Rhythm in the way we walk'. Here is our final performance.

Today we had lots of fun exploring different land marks in Sheffield City Centre!

 Dogger 

Why are iPads more fun than my grandparents' old toys?

This half term we are exploring how life has changed within living memory. We are particularly looking at what our grandparents lives were like when they were younger. 

Children will be learning... 

• what life was like when their grandparents were young
• what toys and games their grandparents would have played with
• what primary schools were like
• what was shown on the television 
• what children did after school 

We will be using the book Dogger by Shirley Hughes to help us explore these themes in school. It would be lovely if parents would like to read Dogger at home too. 

Exploring Old Toys 

In our history lessons we have been exploring different types of toys. We have been looking carefully at older toys that our Grandparents may have played with when they were younger. We have talked about the different materials they were made out of and if they would need an electrical power source. We really enjoyed playing with the old toys!

Playground Games 

We have been learning about old playground games. We watched lots of videos about hopscotch and skipping games then we went outside to have a go for ourselves. We learnt the rules and decided to write some instructions so other people could learn how to play. Have a look at some of the photographs of us playing different games.
