Golden Rules

Bradfield Dungworth Primary School Governing Board recognises that every child is unique and brings with them a wide range of skills and abilities. The whole school community works together to create a safe and happy environment in which its members are able to develop a moral code which encourages all to make a positive contribution to society. We aim to provide challenging experiences so that all can achieve their full potential.

Our School Rules are:

We are gentle, we don’t hurt others.

We are kind and helpful,  we don’t hurt anybody’s feelings.

We are honest, we don’t cover up the truth.

We work hard, we don’t waste time.

We listen, we don’t interrupt.

We look after property, we don’t damage things.

Our Golden Rules are displayed around the school.  They apply equally in class as they do at break and lunchtimes. Consequences for not following our Golden Rules are fair and developmentally appropriate, making sure that the child understands that he or she has broken a valued rule.

Our Golden Rules help our school values extend into every area of school life.  They allow children to reflect on their behaviour and their responsibilities as members of the school community and wider society.

  • All children will understand and follow the Golden rules
  • All stakeholders will subscribe to the “positive first!” ethos and try to foster a sense of pride and belonging in our school.
  • All children will be treated fairly and will be given a fresh start after any consequence of poor behaviour
  • The strategy must be applied consistently.*

* Different behavioural management strategies may need to be used for children with specific types of special educational need and/or ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences); however rules and expectations will never change.
